Anna Scholz stands for fancy fashions for curvy ladies. Anna Scholz isn't just the name of a globally familiar and successful label, it is also the name of a real-life person who vouches for her creations with her own name. And that is evident in her collections. They are designed with the elegance and dedication of a woman who knows exactly what it takes to make women's hearts leap for joy – all over the world.
Anna Scholz was born in the German city of Kettwig in 1969, but she spent most of her life in Hamburg. Before she joined the world of design, she herself was a plus size model in great demand, working throughout Europe. In the 80s, she completed her first dressmaking course and designed for first dresses. After finishing school in 1988, she worked as a plus size model and, during the summer, studied English and Art at California's Stanford University. Right back in 1990, at the young age of 21, Anna Scholz wanted to gain foothold as a designer. She departed for London, where she studied fashion design at Central St. Martin's College of Art and Design. This was where she designed her first plus-size collection. Just six years later, her incredibly beautiful collections were available to admire and buy in London's renowned designer stores. About 15 years later, she is one of THE designers for women's plus size clothing. In 2011 she opened her first flagship shop in Berlin and took part in Britain's Plus Size Fashion Week with her own collection in 2013.

This short, informative video shows you Anna Scholz from a private perspective. It was made at her house and provides you with impressions of her life and home. Here you can also see her favourite dog, of course. She also talks about how she got into fashion in an interview. Her mum always wanted to spoil her with clothes, but unfortunately the never fit her. So she decided to make her own. She made her first item of clothing when she was 14. She likes wearing her own designs most of all. She gets her inspiration from various social media platforms, such as Twitter and Pinterest. She prefers working at her office where she has her computer and print patterns. She needs to be surrounded by many things in order to work creatively, for instance lots of books, music and people. The video also features a couple of items from her 2011 summer collection.
Anna Scholz is invited to NDR's talk show which is presented by Barbara Schöneberger. She was invited there to tell viewers about her success story, how she started sewing due to her despair of never finding nice dresses in her size when she was younger. Today she is a successful plus-size designer. They discuss fashion consciousness in curvy women. Even though 47% of women in England wear plus size fashion, the fashion industry continues to ignore them. And that is exactly who Anna Scholz designs her extremely feminine clothes for. She is very well-known in England and the US and her designs sell very well. Unfortunately, things haven't yet taken off in Germany. Anna Scholz says this is because German women are not exactly known for their sensuality, they are more diligent and straightforward. They lack the courage to be women and enjoy wearing feminine clothes. They all want to cover up and hide. It has to be functional and practical. In her opinion, women should stop being unhappy all the time and start to pay more attention to their assets. A beautiful décolletage or a curvy figur is extremely feminine, attractive and stylish.
